Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of hair-thin needles into specific points along that body.  The stimulation of these points encourages a balancing of the energetic flow of life force throughout the system rendering an improvement of the overal functionality.  This safe and gentle technique offers relief from numerous health challenges as well as promoting and encouraging the body's innate wisdom and ability to self regulate and heal.

Chinese Herbs

Chinese herbs can offer a powerful adjunct to acupuncture care.  Practitioners are able to formulate a prescription that specifically fits the needs of each individual and their unique imbalances,  allowing herbal therapy to give a consistent continuation of treatment long after you have left the office.  Herbs can be administered in the form of tea, powders or capsules.

Cupping

Cupping is the application of small glass cups directly onto the skin.  The suction in the cups causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to be lightly drawn into the cup. Cupping is much like the inverse of massage - rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. For most patients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation.  This is especially useful for helping to relieve pain and stiffness in the musculature.

Gua Sha

Gua sha is a technique of scraping the skin with a smooth and blunt tool to bring up any stagnation in the body that may be creating pain or dysfunction.  The main premise of gua sha, physically, is the raising of stagnant blood to the surface of the skin. Like many forms of liquid that remain in one area too long, stagnant blood will begin to accumulate unwanted particles as well. Blood is not so different in that, when it stops moving or moves slower than usual, other pathogens the blood was trying to move stay in that one area, festering.  The action of pulling this stagnation up allows for fresh blood and flow in the area allowing proper metabolic exchange and an increase range of motion in the area.
